Abu Hurairah reported,

We used to call Jafar bin Abu Talib "the father of the poor." Whenever we came to him, he would bring out whatever food was available. One day we came to him and he had nothing to offer, so he brought out a jar of honey and broke it open, and we began licking from it.

كنا ندعو جعفر بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه أبا المساكين فكنا إذا أتيناه قربنا إليه ما حضر فأتيناه يوما فلم يجد عنده شيئا فأخرج جرة من عسل فكسرها فجعلنا نلعق منها
