The first to pray with me was Ali.This hadith is unfamiliar through this chain. We do not know it from the narration of Shuba from Abu Balaj except through the hadith of Muhammad bin Humayd. Abu Balaj's name is Yahya bin Sulaym.The scholars have differed concerning this matter. Some of them said the first to embrace Islam was Abu Bakr al-Siddiq. Others said the first to embrace Islam was Ali. Some scholars said the first man to embrace Islam was Abu Bakr, while Ali embraced Islam as a boy of eight years, and the first woman to embrace Islam was Khadijah.

أول من صلى علي قال هذا حديث غريب من هذا الوجه لا نعرفه من حديث شعبة عن أبي بلج إلا من حديث محمد بن حميد وأبو بلج اسمه يحيى بن سليم وقد اختلف أهل العلم في هذا فقال بعضهم أول من أسلم أبو بكر الصديق و قال بعضهم أول من أسلم علي و قال بعض أهل العلم أول من أسلم من الرجال أبو بكر وأسلم علي وهو غلام ابن ثمان سنين وأول من أسلم من النساء خديجة

[Hasan] Ahmad narrated it in 1/373 from the hadith of Abu Balaj by this route, and it has corroborating narrations in Ahmad 4/368, 370, and Nasai in al-Khasais 2, 5, and others.
