The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man was once riding a cow when it said, 'I was not created for this. I was created only for plowing.'"Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I believe that, and so do Abu Bakr and Umar."Abu Salama remarked that neither of the two was among the people present that day.Muhammad bin Bashshar related to us, Muhammad bin Jafar related to us, Shuba related to us, with this chain of transmission, something similar.
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا أبو داود قال أنبأنا شعبة عن سعد بن إبراهيم قال سمعت أبا سلمة بن عبد الرحمن يحدث
قال رسول الله ﷺ بينما رجل راكب بقرة إذ قالت لم أخلق لهذا إنما خلقت للحرث فقال رسول الله ﷺ آمنت بذلك أنا وأبو بكر وعمر قال أبو سلمة وما هما في القوم يومئذ حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة بهذا الإسناد نحوه
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the book of Ploughing and Sharecropping, chapter on using cattle for ploughing, no. 2324, and Muslim, no. 2388, both from the hadith of Shubah, with this wording. It is also found in Musnad Abu Dawud Tayalisi, no. 2354.
