During his final illness, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed behind Abu Bakr while seated, wrapped in a single garment draped across his body.
حدثنا عبد الله بن أبي زياد حدثنا شبابة بن سوار حدثنا محمد بن طلحة عن حميد عن ثابت
صلى رسول الله ﷺ في مرضه خلف أبي بكر قاعدا في ثوب متوشحا به
[Sahih] Tahawi also narrated it, 1/406, in Maani al-Athar, from the hadith of Humayd, with this same wording, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (al-Ihsan), 2122. Nasai also narrated it, 2/79, hadith no. 786, from the hadith of Humayd, from Anas, with this same wording, and the mention of directly hearing it was made explicit in Tahawi's version.
