Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

A group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were sitting and waiting for him. He came out, and as he drew near them, he heard them discussing something among themselves. One of them said, "How remarkable! Allah took one of His creation as an intimate friend. He took Ibrahim as a friend."Another said, "That is no more remarkable than His speaking to Musa, addressing him directly."Another said, "And Isa is the word of Allah and a spirit from Him."Another said, "Adam was chosen by Allah."Then he came out to them and greeted them, saying, "I have heard what you said and what amazed you. Indeed, Ibrahim is the intimate friend of Allah, and so he is. Musa is the one Allah confided in, and so he is. Isa is the spirit of Allah and His word, and so he is. Adam was chosen by Allah, and so he was. Truly, I am the beloved of Allah, and I say this without boasting. I will be the bearer of the banner of praise on the Day of Resurrection, without boasting. I will be the first to intercede and the first whose intercession is accepted on the Day of Resurrection, without boasting. I will be the first to rattle the rings on the gate of Paradise, then Allah will open it for me and admit me into it, and with me will be the poor among the believers, without boasting. I am the most honored of the first and the last, without boasting."

عن ابن عباس قال

جلس ناس من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ ينتظرونه قال فخرج حتى إذا دنا منهم سمعهم يتذاكرون فسمع حديثهم فقال بعضهم عجبا إن الله عز وجل اتخذ من خلقه خليلا اتخذ إبراهيم خليلا وقال آخر ماذا بأعجب من كلام موسى كلمه تكليما وقال آخر فعيسى كلمة الله وروحه وقال آخر آدم اصطفاه الله فخرج عليهم فسلم وقال قد سمعت كلامكم وعجبكم إن إبراهيم خليل الله وهو كذلك وموسى نجي الله وهو كذلك وعيسى روح الله وكلمته وهو كذلك وآدم اصطفاه الله وهو كذلك ألا وأنا حبيب الله ولا فخر وأنا حامل لواء الحمد يوم القيامة ولا فخر وأنا أول شافع وأول مشفع يوم القيامة ولا فخر وأنا أول من يحرك حلق الجنة فيفتح الله لي فيدخلنيها ومعي فقراء المؤمنين ولا فخر وأنا أكرم الأولين والآخرين ولا فخر
