He heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "When you hear the muezzin, repeat what he says, then send blessings upon me, for whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah will send ten blessings upon him in return. Then ask Allah to grant me al-wasilah, for it is a station in Paradise that is fitting only for one of Allah's servants, and I hope to be that servant. Whoever asks that I be granted al-wasilah, my intercession will be granted to him."
حدثنا محمد بن إسمعيل حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد المقري حدثنا حيوة أخبرنا كعب بن علقمة سمع عبد الرحمن بن جبير أنه
أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول إذا سمعتم المؤذن فقولوا مثل ما يقول ثم صلوا علي فإنه من صلى علي صلاة صلى الله عليه بها عشرا ثم سلوا لي الوسيلة فإنها منزلة في الجنة لا تنبغي إلا لعبد من عباد الله وأرجو أن أكون أنا هو ومن سأل لي الوسيلة حلت عليه الشفاعة
Muslim also reported it in the Book of Prayer, Chapter on the recommendation of saying what the caller to prayer says when one hears him, then invoking blessings upon the Prophet, etc., hadith no. 384, from the hadith of Haywa bin Shurayh, through this same chain.
