A blind man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Pray to Allah to restore my sight."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "If you wish, I will pray for you, but if you wish, you can be patient, and that is better for you."The man said, "Then pray for me."So he instructed him to perform ablution properly and to make this supplication, "O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Your Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy. I have turned through you to my Lord concerning this need of mine, that it may be fulfilled for me. O Allah, accept his intercession on my behalf."

Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Majah also narrated it in the Book of Establishing the Prayers, Chapter on What Has Been Said Regarding the Prayer of Need, hadith no. 1385, from the hadith of Uthman bin Umar with the same wording, and Hakim added at the end, 1/313, 519, 1/313, "and accept my intercession for it." Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 1219, as did Hakim, and Dhahabi concurred with him.
