He put on a new garment and said, "Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with what conceals my private parts and beautifies me in my life." Then he took the worn-out garment and gave it away in charity. He then said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever puts on a new garment and says, 'Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with what conceals my private parts and beautifies me in my life,' then takes the worn-out garment and gives it away in charity, will be under the care of Allah, under the protection of Allah, and under the shelter of Allah, in life and in death."

ثوبا جديدا فقال الحمد لله الذي كساني ما أواري به عورتي وأتجمل به في حياتي ثم عمد إلى الثوب الذي أخلق فتصدق به ثم قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من لبس ثوبا جديدا فقال الحمد لله الذي كساني ما أواري به عورتي وأتجمل به في حياتي ثم عمد إلى الثوب الذي أخلق فتصدق به كان في كنف الله وفي حفظ الله وفي ستر الله حيا وميتا
[Its chain is daif]. Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Clothing, chapter on what a man says when he wears a new garment, hadith no. 3557, from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun, through the same route. Ahmad also narrated it (1/44, hadith no. 305) from him, and Ibn Kathir said, "It is hasan according to his criteria," meaning Tirmidhi's criteria (!). The hadith of Yahya bin Ayub was narrated by Ismaili, as mentioned in Musnad Faruq (1/218).Abu Ala Shami is majhul (Taqrib). It has a daif supporting witness in Hakim (4/193).
