The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The supplication of Dhu al-Nun when he called out while in the belly of the whale was, 'There is no god but You, glory be to You, indeed I was among the wrongdoers.' No Muslim man ever supplicates with these words concerning anything without Allah answering him."Muhammad bin Yahya said, Muhammad bin Yusuf once narrated it from Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Saad from Saad, without mentioning "from his father" in the chain.More than one narrator has reported this hadith from Yunus bin Abu Ishaq from Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Saad from Saad, without mentioning "from his father" in it.Some, including Abu Ahmad Zubayri, reported it from Yunus bin Abu Ishaq, saying, "from Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Saad," similar to the narration of Ibn Yusuf, "from his father, from Saad."Yunus bin Abu Ishaq would sometimes mention "from his father" in this hadith and sometimes leave it out.

قال رسول الله ﷺ دعوة ذي النون إذ دعا وهو في بطن الحوت لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين فإنه لم يدع بها رجل مسلم في شيء قط إلا استجاب الله له قال محمد بن يحيى قال محمد بن يوسف مرة عن إبراهيم بن محمد بن سعد عن سعد ولم يذكر فيه عن أبيه وقد روى غير واحد هذا الحديث عن يونس بن أبي إسحق عن إبراهيم بن محمد بن سعد عن سعد ولم يذكروا فيه عن أبيه وروى بعضهم وهو أبو أحمد الزبيري عن يونس بن أبي إسحق فقالوا عن إبراهيم بن محمد بن سعد نحو رواية ابن يوسف عن أبيه عن سعد وكان يونس بن أبي إسحق ربما ذكر في هذا الحديث عن أبيه وربما لم يذكره
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Nasai transmitted it in Al-Kubra, no. 10492, and in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla, no. 656, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Yusuf. Ahmad transmitted it, 1/170, from the hadith of Yunus bin Abu Ishaq, through the same route, explicitly stating that he heard it directly. Muhammad bin Muhajir corroborated him with Nasai in Al-Kubra, no. 10491. Hakim graded it sahih, 10/505, 2/3383, 583, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Diya also included it in Al-Mukhtarah.
