The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Our Lord descends each night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and He says, 'Who is calling upon Me that I may answer him? Who is asking of Me that I may give to him? Who is seeking My forgiveness that I may forgive him?'"
Bukhari also narrated it in the chapter on tahajjud, the section on supplication and prayer during the last part of the night, no. 1145, and Muslim, no. 758, from the hadith of Malik through the same chain, and it is in Muwatta, 1/214.There is also a report on this topic from Ali... and Uthman bin Abu As, mentioned earlier under no. 446.
