While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting, a man entered, prayed, and then said, "Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You have been hasty, worshipper. When you have prayed and sat down, praise Allah with the praise He deserves, send blessings upon me, and then call upon Him."Then another man prayed after that, praised Allah, and sent blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ.The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Worshipper, make your supplication and it will be answered."

بينا رسول الله ﷺ قاعد إذ دخل رجل فصلى فقال اللهم اغفر لي وارحمني فقال رسول الله ﷺ عجلت أيها المصلي إذا صليت فقعدت فاحمد الله بما هو أهله وصل علي ثم ادعه قال ثم صلى رجل آخر بعد ذلك فحمد الله وصلى على النبي ﷺ فقال النبي ﷺ أيها المصلي ادع تجب

[Hasan]Also narrated by Abu Dawud, likewise: 1481, and Nasai, no. 1285, from the hadith of Abu Hani through the same route. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 709, 710, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 510, and Hakim, 1/230, 268, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith is hasan.
