When the Prophet ﷺ returned from a journey, he would say, "We return, repentant, worshipping our Lord, and praising Him."
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا أبو داود أنبأنا شعبة عن أبي إسحق قال سمعت
أن النبي ﷺ كان إذا قدم من سفر قال آيبون تائبون عابدون لربنا حامدون
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Nasai reported it in Sunan al-Kubra, no. 10384, from the hadith of Shubah with the same wording, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 970. It is also found in Musnad Abu Dawud Tayalisi, no. 716.The hadith of Thawri was reported by Ahmad, 4/300, and he was corroborated by Fitr bin Khalifa (Ibn Hibban, no. 971), and by Mansur and Israil (Nasai in Sunan al-Kubra, no. 10383). Abu Ishaq explicitly stated that he heard it directly from Bara, so both chains are sahih and preserved. On this subject there are also narrations from Ibn Umar [Bukhari, no. 1797, and Muslim, no. 1344], Anas [Bukhari, no. 3085, and Muslim, no. 1345], and Jabir bin Abdullah [Bazzar, 4/35, no. 3131, and Tabarani in Awsat, nos. 6041 and 5601].
