A man said, "Messenger of Allah, the laws of Islam have become many for me, so tell me of something I can hold fast to."He replied, "Let your tongue remain moist with the remembrance of Allah."
[Its isnad is hasan]. Its opening portion has already been mentioned. Ibn Majah also recorded it in the Book of Manners, Chapter on the Merit of Remembering Allah, hadith no. 3793, from the hadith of Zayd bin Hubab, with the same wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith no. 2317, as did Hakim, 1/495, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It also has a corroborating narration in Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 2318, and elsewhere.
