Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

A man asked him about this verse, "Believers, indeed among your spouses and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them" [Taghabun 64:14].He said, "These were Some men from the people of Mecca who had Aslam and wanted to come to the Prophet ﷺ, but their wives and children refused to let them go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When they finally came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and saw that the people had gained understanding in the religion, they intended to punish their families. So Allah revealed, 'Believers, indeed among your spouses and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them' [Taghabun 64:14], the verse."

عن ابن عباس

وسأله رجل عن هذه الآية {يا أيها الذين آمنوا إن من أزواجكم وأولادكم عدوا لكم فاحذروهم} قال هؤلاء رجال أسلموا من أهل مكة وأرادوا أن يأتوا النبي ﷺ فأبى أزواجهم وأولادهم أن يدعوهم أن يأتوا رسول الله ﷺ فلما أتوا رسول الله ﷺ رأوا الناس قد فقهوا في الدين هموا أن يعاقبوهم فأنزل الله عز وجل {يا أيها الذين آمنوا إن من أزواجكم وأولادكم عدوا لكم فاحذروهم} الآية
