A woman among the group asked, "What is this good conduct in which we are not to disobey you?"He replied, "That you do not wail in mourning."I said, "Messenger of Allah, the women of such-and-such tribe assisted me in mourning my uncle, and I must repay them in kind." He refused me, but I went to him repeatedly until he gave me permission to fulfill my obligation to them. After repaying them, I never wailed again, neither for that uncle nor for anyone else, up to this very moment. And there was not a woman among that group who did not later wail, except for me.

Its isnad is hasan. Ibn Majah also narrated it in Kitab al-Janaiz, chapter on what has been said regarding the prohibition of wailing, hadith no. 1579, from the hadith of Yazid bin Abdullah with the same wording. There is also a narration on this topic from Umm Atiya [Muslim, no. 937].
