Abdullah bin Umar reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ burned and cut down the date palms of Banu Nadir at the place known as al-Buwayrah. So Allah revealed, "Whatever palm trees you cut down or left standing on their roots, it was by the permission of Allah, and so that He might disgrace the defiantly disobedient" [Hashr 59:5].

حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا الليث عن نافع

عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما قال

حرق رسول الله ﷺ نخل بني النضير وقطع وهي البويرة فأنزل الله {ما قطعتم من لينة أو تركتموها قائمة على أصولها فبإذن الله وليخزي الفاسقين}
