The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade reciting poetry in the mosque, buying and selling within it, and gathering in circles on Friday before the prayer.
Its isnad is hasan. Abu Dawud reported it in "the book of prayer, chapter on sitting in a circle on Friday before the prayer," no. 1079, and Ibn Majah, no. 749, and Nasai, 22/47–48, no. 715, 716, from the hadith of Ibn Ajlan through this same chain. The hearing was stated explicitly in Ahmad, 2/179, and Atraf Musnad, 4/32, no. 5171, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 1304, 1306.On this subject there is also a report from Burayda [Muslim, no. 569], and from Jabir [I did not find it], and from Anas [perhaps referring to what Tabarani mentioned in al-Awsat, 22/405, no. 1698, and Ibn Abu Shayba, 2/419].
