When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was commanded to give his wives the choice, he began with me and said, "Ayesha, I am going to mention a matter to you, so there is no need for you to be hasty until you consult your parents."She said, "He knew that my parents would never have instructed me to part from him."She continued, "Then he said, 'Allah, the Exalted, says, "Prophet, say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you in a handsome manner. But if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter, then indeed Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward" [Ahzab 33:28–29].'"She said, "I replied, 'About what should I consult my parents? I want Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter.' And the wives of the Prophet ﷺ did the same as I did."
