A woman used to pray behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was strikingly beautiful, among the most beautiful of people. Some of the men would push forward to be in the first row so as not to see her, while others would hang back to be in the last row, and when such a man bowed he would steal a glance at her from beneath his armpit. So Allah Most High revealed, "And We have certainly known those who go forward among you, and We have certainly known those who hang back" [Hijr 15:24].

كانت امرأة تصلي خلف رسول الله ﷺ حسناء من أحسن الناس فكان بعض القوم يتقدم حتى يكون في الصف الأول لئلا يراها ويستأخر بعضهم حتى يكون في الصف المؤخر فإذا ركع نظر من تحت إبطيه فأنزل الله تعالى {ولقد علمنا المستقدمين منكم ولقد علمنا المستأخرين}
[Its chain is daif] Nasai recorded it, 2/118, no. 871 (Chapter on Leadership in Prayer, section on one who prays alone behind the row), from Qutayba. Ibn Majah also recorded it, no. 1046, from the hadith of Nuh bin Qays, with the same wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1749, as did Ibn Khuzayma, nos. 1696 and 1697, and Hakim, 2/353, and Dhahabi agreed with him.Amr bin Malik Nakri is deemed daif by Bukhari (Tahdhib al-Tahdhib, 1/336). Ibn Hibban alone explicitly deemed him trustworthy, while also saying, "He makes mistakes and reports strange things." Ibn Adi said regarding Abu Jawza, "Amr bin Malik narrated from him about ten hadiths, none of which are preserved." So the criticism is explained.
