The Prophet ﷺ said regarding the verse "and We favor some of them over others in taste" [Rad 13:4], "This refers to the inferior and the Persian dates, the sweet and the sour."He said, this is a hasan gharib hadith. Zayd bin Abu Unaysa narrated something similar from Amash. Sayf bin Muhammad is the brother of Ammar bin Muhammad, and Ammar is more reliable than him. He is the nephew of Sufyan Thawri through his sister.
حدثنا محمود بن خداش البغدادي حدثنا سيف بن محمد الثوري عن الأعمش عن أبي صالح
عن النبي ﷺ في قوله {ونفضل بعضها على بعض في الأكل} قال الدقل والفارسي والحلو والحامض قال هذا حديث حسن غريب وقد رواه زيد بن أبي أنيسة عن الأعمش نحو هذا وسيف بن محمد هو أخو عمار بن محمد وعمار أثبت منه وهو ابن أخت سفيان الثوري
