When the verse "so among them are the wretched and the blessed" [Hud 11:105] was revealed, I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Prophet of Allah, on what basis do we act? Is it on something already decided, or on something not yet decided?"He replied, "Rather, it is on something already decided and the pens have already recorded, Umar. But everyone is made easy for what he was created for."

[Hasan] Abd bin Humayd narrated it, no. 30, from Abu Amir Abdul-Malik bin Amr Aqdi, through the same chain. Sulayman bin Sufyan is daif (Taqrib). The hadith has corroborating narrations in Ibn Hibban, no. 1807, and Ibn Abu Asim, no. 161-170, and others.
