The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has sent down to me two safeguards for my community, 'But Allah would not punish them while you are among them, nor would Allah punish them while they seek forgiveness' [Anfal 8:33]. So when I am gone, I leave with them seeking forgiveness until the Day of Resurrection."This is a strange hadith, and Ismail bin Muhajir is considered weak in hadith.
حدثنا سفيان بن وكيع حدثنا ابن نمير عن إسمعيل بن إبراهيم بن مهاجر عن عباد بن يوسف
قال رسول الله ﷺ أنزل الله علي أمانين لأمتي {وما كان الله ليعذبهم وأنت فيهم وما كان الله معذبهم وهم يستغفرون} فإذا مضيت تركت فيهم الاستغفار إلى يوم القيامة هذا حديث غريب وإسمعيل بن مهاجر يضعف في الحديث

[Its chain is daif] Abbad bin Yusuf is majhul, Ismail bin Ibrahim is daif (Taqrib*), and Sufyan bin Waki is also daif. It has a corroborating narration in Ahmad 4/393, no. 19735, but its chain is also daif.
