The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever takes a false oath in order to seize the property of a Muslim by it will meet Allah while He is angry with him."Ashath bin Qays said, "By Allah, this was about me. There was a piece of land between me and a Jewish man, and he denied my right to it, so I brought him before the Prophet ﷺ.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me, 'Do you have any evidence?'I said, 'No.'He said to the Jew, 'Then take an oath.'I said, 'Messenger of Allah, in that case he will swear and take away my property.'So Allah revealed, "Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their own oaths for a small price..." [Al Imran 3:77] until the end of the verse."
[Its chain is daif] Ibn Majah also narrated it in the Book of Rites of Hajj, Chapter on What Makes Hajj Obligatory, no. 2896, from the hadith of Ibrahim bin Yazid Khawzi, from him, and he is daif. The hadith has other routes narrated from Anas, Ayesha, and others, but their chains are daif. See also no. 813.
