I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he arrived in Mecca, circle the House seven times, then recite "And take from the station of Ibrahim a place of prayer" [Baqarah 2:125], and pray behind the station. He then came to the Black Stone and touched it, saying, "We begin with what Allah began with," and recited "Indeed, Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah" [Baqarah 2:158].
حدثنا ابن أبي عمر حدثنا سفيان عن جعفر بن محمد عن أبيه
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ حين قدم مكة طاف بالبيت سبعا فقرأ {واتخذوا من مقام إبراهيم مصلى} فصلى خلف المقام ثم أتى الحجر فاستلمه ثم قال نبدأ بما بدأ الله وقرأ {إن الصفا والمروة من شعائر الله}
[Sahih]. Ibn Majah reported it in the chapter on Duaa, section on the merit of duaa, no. 3828, from the hadith of Amash. Abu Dawud reported it, no. 1479, from the hadith of Dhar through the same route. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 2396, as did Hakim (1/490, 491), and Dhahabi agreed with him.
