The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to give a single salutation at the end of the prayer, facing forward, with a slight turn toward his right side.
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ibn Khuzayma also narrated it, no. 729, as did Hakim, 1/230, 231, from the hadith of Amr bin Abu Salama Shami, through this route. The people of Syria narrate objectionable reports (manakir) from Zuhayr bin Muhammad, and Abdul-Malik bin Muhammad Sanani (who is weak) corroborated him. (The hadith is found in Ibn Majah, no. 919, and it has weak corroborating narrations.) On this subject there is also a report from Sahl bin Saad [Ibn Majah, no. 918].
