I passed through the mosque and found people deeply engaged in discussing various reports, so I went in to see Ali and said, "Commander of the Believers, don't you see that the people have plunged into these reports?"He asked, "Have they really done so?"I replied, "Yes."He said, "I have indeed heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Truly, there will be tribulation.'I asked, 'What is the way out of it, Messenger of Allah?'He answered, 'The Book of Allah. In it is the news of what came before you, the report of what will come after you, and the judgment of what is between you. It is the decisive word, not idle talk. Whoever among the tyrants abandons it, Allah will crush him, and whoever seeks guidance elsewhere, Allah will lead him astray. It is the firm rope of Allah, it is the wise reminder, and it is the straight path. It is that by which desires do not deviate, nor do tongues become confused by it, the scholars never have their fill of it, it does not wear out through repeated recitation, and its wonders never cease. It is that which the jinn, when they heard it, could not stop until they said, "Indeed, we have heard a wondrous Quran that guides to right conduct, so we have believed in it" [Jinn 72:1–2]. Whoever speaks by it speaks truth, whoever acts by it is rewarded, whoever judges by it is just, and whoever calls to it is guided to a straight path. Take this, one-eyed man.'"
