Some of the Prophet's ﷺ companions complained to him about the difficulty they experienced in prostration when they spread their legs apart. He said, "Seek help by using your knees."
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا الليث عن ابن عجلان عن سمي عن أبي صالح
اشتكى بعض أصحاب النبي ﷺ إلى النبي ﷺ مشقة السجود عليهم إذا تفرجوا فقال استعينوا بالركب
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it, in the Book of Prayer, chapter on the concession granted for that out of necessity, hadith no. 902, from Qutayba, through the same chain. Ibn Ajlan reported it using "an" (indicating a possible break in the chain).
