The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The greeting of peace comes before speech."With this same chain of narration, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not invite anyone to a meal until he has given the greeting of peace."

Sourcing, its chain of transmission is extremely daif. Ibn Adi narrated it in 6/210 from the hadith of Fadl bin Sabbah, through him, from Unaysah, whose condition was already discussed at 1856, and Muhammad bin Zazan is abandoned (as stated in Taqrib). The practice of greeting before speaking is sahih based on many proofs, see Sunan Abu Dawud, no. 5176, 5177, and Tirmidhi, no. 2710, and others.
