I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "There is no valid ablution for one who does not mention the name of Allah over it."
حدثنا نصر بن علي الجهضمي وبشر بن معاذ العقدي قالا حدثنا بشر بن المفضل عن عبد الرحمن بن حرملة عن أبي ثفال المري
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا وضوء لمن لم يذكر اسم الله عليه
[Hasan] Ahmad narrated it in 70/4, 1381/10, 382/1 from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Harmala with the same wording. It is also found in Ibn Majah, no. 398, and his grandfather's father was named Saeed bin Zayd . It has a hasan corroborating narration in Ibn Majah, no. 397.There are also narrations on this subject from Ayesha [Ibn Abu Shayba, 3/1, and Ibn Adi, 2/616], Abu Saeed [Ibn Majah, no. 397], Abu Hurairah [Abu Dawud, no. 101, and Ibn Majah, no. 399], Sahl bin Saad [Ibn Majah, no. 400], and Anas [mentioned by Hafiz in Talkhis Habir, 75/1].
