The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would spend several nights in a row hungry, and his household would find no dinner. Most of their bread was barley bread.
حدثنا عبد الله بن معاوية الجمحي حدثنا ثابت بن يزيد عن هلال بن خباب عن عكرمة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يبيت الليالي المتتابعة طاويا وأهله لا يجدون عشاء وكان أكثر خبزهم خبز الشعير
[Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Majah related it in the Book of Foods, Chapter on Barley Bread, no. 3347, from Abdullah bin Muawiya, through Hilal, from Ikrima.
