This is a hasan hadith. Most scholars say "Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra." They differed regarding Malik in his narration of this hadith. Some narrated it from him as "from Abu Amra," and others narrated it as "from Ibn Abu Amra," who is Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra al-Ansari. This second version is more correct, because it has also been narrated through chains other than Malik's, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra, from Zayd bin Khalid. Other hadiths besides this one have also been narrated from Ibn Abu Amra, from Zayd bin Khalid, and that is also a sahih hadith. Abu Amra was the freed slave of Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani, and he is the one who narrated the hadith concerning misappropriation of spoils. Most scholars say "Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra."

هذا حديث حسن وأكثر الناس يقولون عبد الرحمن بن أبي عمرة واختلفوا على مالك في رواية هذا الحديث فروى بعضهم عن أبي عمرة وروى بعضهم عن ابن أبي عمرة وهو عبد الرحمن بن أبي عمرة الأنصاري وهذا أصح لأنه قد روي من غير حديث مالك عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي عمرة عن زيد بن خالد وقد روي عن ابن أبي عمرة عن زيد بن خالد غير هذا الحديث وهو حديث صحيح أيضا وأبو عمرة مولى زيد بن خالد الجهني وله حديث الغلول وأكثر الناس يقولون عبد الرحمن بن أبي عمرة
