I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "There was no prophet after Nuh who did not warn his people about the Dajjal, and I am warning you about him."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ described him to us and said, "Perhaps some who have seen me or heard my words will live to encounter him."They asked, "Messenger of Allah, how will our hearts be on that day?"He replied, "The same as they are today, or better."
[Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Abu Dawud also narrated it in Kitab al-Sunnah, chapter on Dajjal, no. 4756, through this same hadith. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1895, as did Hakim, 4/542, 543, and Dhahabi agreed with him.Salama bin Hammad, from Abdullah bin Suraqa, was deemed trustworthy by Ajli, Ibn Hibban, and others. He explicitly stated that he heard it directly in the version narrated by Ali bin Asim, and it is not unlikely that he heard it from Abdullah bin Busr, may Allah be pleased with him. [Abu Dawud, no. 4296]On this subject there are also narrations from Abdullah bin Harith bin Juz [I did not find it], Abdullah bin Mughafal [Ibn Hibban, no. 1894], and Abu Hurairah [Bukhari, no. 3338, and Muslim, no. 2936].
