We feared that something might happen after our Prophet, so we asked the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "In my nation there will be the Mahdi, who will emerge and live for five, or seven, or nine." Zayd is the one who was uncertain.We asked, "What does that mean?"He said, "Years."He continued, "A man will come to him and say, 'Mahdi, give to me, give to me.' So he will pour into his garment as much as he is able to carry."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة قال سمعت زيدا العمي قال سمعت أبا الصديق الناجي يحدث
خشينا أن يكون بعد نبينا حدث فسألنا نبي الله ﷺ فقال إن في أمتي المهدي يخرج يعيش خمسا أو سبعا أو تسعا زيد الشاك قال قلنا وما ذاك قال سنين قال فيجيء إليه رجل فيقول يا مهدي أعطني أعطني قال فيحثي له في ثوبه ما استطاع أن يحمله
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ibn Majah also narrated it in Kitab al-Fitan, chapter on the emergence of Mahdi, hadith 4083, from the hadith of Zayd Ammi, and he is daif as stated in al-Taqrib and elsewhere.
