The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No servant truly believes until he believes in divine decree, both its good and its bad, and until he knows that whatever has befallen him could not have missed him, and whatever has missed him could not have befallen him."
[Hasan] Mizzi also recorded it in Tahzib Kamal (10/577) from the hadith of Ziyad bin Yahya, with this same wording, but its chain is daif. The hadith has hasan corroborating narrations in Ibn Abu Asim's Sunnah, no. 134, and elsewhere. There are also narrations on this topic from Ubadah [coming at 2154], Jabir, and Abdullah bin Amr [Ahmad, 2/181, 212].
