While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he was scratching the ground with a stick. Then he raised his head toward the sky and said, "There is not one among you whose place in the Fire and place in Paradise has not already been known," and Waki said, "has not already been written."They asked, "Messenger of Allah, shall we not then rely on this?"He replied, "No, keep working, for everyone is made easy for what he was created."
حدثنا الحسن بن علي الحلواني حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير ووكيع عن الأعمش عن سعد بن عبيدة عن أبي عبد الرحمن السلمي
بينما نحن مع رسول الله ﷺ وهو ينكت في الأرض إذ رفع رأسه إلى السماء ثم قال ما منكم من أحد إلا قد علم وقال وكيع إلا قد كتب مقعده من النار ومقعده من الجنة قالوا أفلا نتكل يا رسول الله قال لا اعملوا فكل ميسر لما خلق له
Agreed upon (by Bukhari and Muslim). Bukhari reported it in tafsir, chapter on His saying, "But as for him who was stingy and considered himself self-sufficient," hadith 4947, and Muslim, hadith 2647, from the hadith of Waki, through this chain.
