A woman came in with her two daughters and asked for something, but I had nothing except a single date. I gave it to her, and she divided it between her two daughters without eating any of it herself. Then she got up and left.The Prophet ﷺ came in, and I told him what had happened. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever is tested with anything from these daughters, they will be a shield for him from the Fire."

دخلت امرأة معها ابنتان لها فسألت فلم تجد عندي شيئا غير تمرة فأعطيتها إياها فقسمتها بين ابنتيها ولم تأكل منها ثم قامت فخرجت فدخل النبي ﷺ فأخبرته فقال النبي ﷺ من ابتلي بشيء من هذه البنات كن له سترا من النار
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of zakat, chapter, "Guard yourselves against the Fire even with half a date, and giving even a small amount in charity...," etc., hadith no. 1418, and Muslim, hadith no. 147/2629, from the hadith of Ibn Mubarak with this wording.
