The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined the noon and afternoon prayers, and the sunset and evening prayers, in Madinah without there being any fear or rain.Someone asked Ibn Abbas, "What did he intend by that?"He replied, "He intended not to place his community in hardship."
Muslim also related it in "Prayer of the Traveler," chapter on combining the two prayers while at home, hadith no. 54/705, from the hadith of Abu Muawiya al-Darir with the same wording. On this subject there is also a report from Abu Hurairah [Muslim, hadith no. 705/57].
