The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you eats food, let him say, 'In the name of Allah.' If he forgets at the beginning, let him say, 'In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end.'"With the same chain of narration, Ayesha reported, "The Prophet ﷺ was eating food with six of his companions when an Arabi came and devoured it in two bites."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Had he mentioned the name of Allah, it would have sufficed all of you."
[Its isnad is sahih]. Abu Dawud also narrated it in the Book of Foods, Chapter on Mentioning Allah's Name over Food, h: 3767, and Ibn Majah, h: 3264, from the hadith of Hisham Dastawai, in abridged form. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, h: 1341, as did Hakim, 4/108, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
