The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Food enough for two is enough for three, and food enough for three is enough for four."
حدثنا الأنصاري حدثنا معن حدثنا مالك ح و حدثنا قتيبة عن مالك عن أبي الزناد عن الأعرج
قال رسول الله ﷺ طعام الاثنين كافي الثلاثة وطعام الثلاثة كافي الأربعة
Graded muttafaq alayhi. Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Foods, chapter on the food of one person being sufficient for two, hadith 5392, and Muslim, hadith 2058, from the hadith of Malik, by way of the same chain, and it is found in Muwatta 22/928 (Yahya).There is also a narration on this subject from Ibn Umar [Abd bin Humayd, hadith 788, its isnad is sahih] and from Jabir [Muslim, hadith 2059, from the hadith of Amash from Abu Sufyan from Jabir].
