The Prophet ﷺ came to stay with them, and they went to the trouble of preparing food for him that contained some of these vegetables. He disliked eating it and said to his companions, "Eat it, for I am not like any of you. I fear that I may offend my companion."

أن النبي ﷺ نزل عليهم فتكلفوا له طعاما فيه من بعض هذه البقول فكره أكله فقال لأصحابه كلوه فإني لست كأحدكم إني أخاف أن أوذي صاحبي

Ibn Khuzayma declared it sahih, no. 3364, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna through this same route, and he stated explicitly that he had heard it directly, no. 1671. Ibn Hibban also recorded it, no. 2090. The hadith has corroborating narrations, from Abu Yazid, and the hadith is hasan.
