The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Mecca with four braids in his hair.
حدثني ابن أبي عمر حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن ابن أبي نجيح عن مجاهد
قدم رسول الله ﷺ مكة وله أربع غدائر
[Its isnad is daif]. Abu Dawud narrated it in Kitab al-Tarajjul, in the chapter on a man braiding his hair, hadith no. 4191, and Ibn Majah, hadith no. 3631, both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, through this same route. Ibn Abu Najeeh used an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana).
