My nose was cut off on the Day of Kulab during the days of ignorance, so I took a nose made of silver, but it stank on me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then instructed me to take a nose made of gold.Ali bin Hujr narrated to us, Rabi bin Badr and Muhammad bin Yazid al-Wasiti narrated to us, from Abu Ashhab, something similar.

أصيب أنفي يوم الكلاب في الجاهلية فاتخذت أنفا من ورق فأنتن علي فأمرني رسول الله ﷺ أن أتخذ أنفا من ذهب حدثنا علي بن حجر حدثنا الربيع بن بدر ومحمد بن يزيد الواسطي عن أبي الأشهب نحوه
[Its isnad is hasan]. Abu Dawud transmitted it in "The Ring," chapter on binding teeth with gold, no. 4232, from the hadith of Abu Ashhab. Nasai transmitted it, no. 5164, 5165, from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Tarafah, through him. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1466.
