The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade having images in the house and forbade making them.
حدثنا أحمد بن منيع حدثنا روح بن عبادة حدثنا ابن جريج أخبرني أبو الزبير
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الصورة في البيت ونهى أن يصنع ذلك
Its isnad is sahih. Ahmad narrated it: 3/383, from Rawh, with the same wording at greater length, and this is an abridgment of it. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1485. Ibn Jurayj and Abu Zubayr both stated explicitly that they heard it directly.On this subject there are also narrations from Ali [Ibn Majah, no. 3359, and Nasai, no. 5353], Abu Talha [to come, no. 1750], Ayesha [Bukhari, no. 5955, and Muslim, no. 2107], Abu Hurairah [Bukhari, no. 7042, and Nasai, no. 5362], and Abu Ayub [Tahawi in Maani al-Athar, 4/282].
