The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection."Umm Salama asked, "What should women do with their hems?"He replied, "Let them lower them by a hand-span."She said, "Then their feet would be exposed."He said, "Let them lower them by a forearm's length, and not exceed that."He said, this is a hasan sahih hadith.
حدثنا الحسن بن علي الخلال حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن أيوب عن نافع
قال رسول الله ﷺ من جر ثوبه خيلاء لم ينظر الله إليه يوم القيامة فقالت أم سلمة فكيف يصنعن النساء بذيولهن قال يرخين شبرا فقالت إذا تنكشف أقدامهن قال فيرخينه ذراعا لا يزدن عليه قال هذا حديث حسن صحيح
[Its isnad is sahih] Nasai also narrated it in "Zinah," chapter on the trailing hems of women's garments, 8/209, hadith 5338, from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq through the same chain, and it is in his Musannaf, 2/11, 83, hadith 19984. Muslim also narrated it, hadith 2085, from the hadith of Ayub through the same chain, and Bukhari narrated it, hadith 5783.
