The wounded were brought to the attention of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Uhud, so he said, "Dig the graves, make them wide and well-prepared, and bury two or three men in a single grave, placing the one who knew the most Quran at the front."My father Ubayy died, so he was placed in front of two other men.

شكي إلى رسول الله ﷺ الجراحات يوم أحد فقال احفروا وأوسعوا وأحسنوا وادفنوا الاثنين والثلاثة في قبر واحد وقدموا أكثرهم قرآنا فمات أبي فقدم بين يدي رجلين
[Its chain of transmission is sahih]. Ibn Majah also narrated it, in the Book of Funerals, the chapter on what has been said about digging the grave, hadith 1560, from Azhar bin Marwan with this chain. Abu Dawud narrated it, hadith 3215, from the hadith of Humayd bin Hilal, and Nasai, hadith 2012, from the hadith of Ayub Sakhtiyani with this chain.There is also a report on this subject from Khabab [Ahmad 111/5, 395/6, with its basis found in Tirmidhi, hadith 970], from Jabir [mentioned previously at 1036], and from Anas [mentioned previously at 106].
