The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of horses is the jet-black one with a white blaze on its forehead and a white upper lip, then the one with a blaze and white markings on its legs, its right foreleg free of any marking. If it is not jet-black, then a reddish-brown one with these same markings."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا وهب بن جرير حدثنا أبي عن يحيى بن أيوب عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب بهذا الإسناد نحوه بمعناه
[Its isnad is hasan]. Ibn Majah also reported it, hadith 2789, from Muhammad bin Bashshar with the same wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 1633, as did Hakim, 2/92, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has other routes as well.
