The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A lone rider is a devil, two riders are two devils, and three make a travel party."
حدثنا إسحق بن موسى الأنصاري حدثنا معن حدثنا مالك عن عبد الرحمن بن حرملة
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال الراكب شيطان والراكبان شيطانان والثلاثة ركب
[Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Jihad, chapter on a man traveling alone, hadith 2607, from the hadith of Malik through the same route, and it is found in Muwatta 2/978. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, as did Hakim, 2/102, hadith 2675, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Baghawi graded it hasan in Sharh al-Sunnah.
