A man from his people caught a hare, or two hares, slaughtered them with a sharp stone, and hung them up until he met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He asked him about them, and he instructed him to eat them.

أن رجلا من قومه صاد أرنبا أو اثنين فذبحهما بمروة فعلقهما حتى لقي رسول الله ﷺ فسأله فأمره بأكلهما

[Hasan] This hadith has a hasan corroborating narration in Abu Dawud, no. 2822, and Ibn Majah, no. 3176, and others, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1069, as did Hakim and Dhahabi, 4/113, 114.
