Its chain of transmission is daif. Ibn Majah also reported it in the chapter on hunting, in the section on hunting with the dog of the Zoroastrians and the pure black dog, hadith no. 3209, from the hadith of Waki with the same wording, and Busiri graded it daif because of the tadlis of Hajjaj bin Artah.
