The Prophet ﷺ said, "If a contracted slave incurs a legal penalty or receives an inheritance, he inherits according to the proportion of him that has been freed."The Prophet ﷺ also said, "The blood-money paid for a contracted slave is calculated proportionally. The portion corresponding to what he has paid off is at the rate of a free man's blood-money, and what remains is at the rate of a slave's blood-money."
حدثنا هارون بن عبد الله البزاز حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا حماد بن سلمة عن أيوب عن عكرمة
عن النبي ﷺ قال إذا أصاب المكاتب حدا أو ميراثا ورث بحساب ما عتق منه وقال النبي ﷺ يؤدي المكاتب بحصة ما أدى دية حر وما بقي دية عبد
[Its chain of transmission is sahih]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapters on blood money, in the chapter on the blood money of a mukatab, hadith no. 4582, from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, and Nasai, hadith no. 4815, from the hadith of Ayub Sakhtiyani, through him. Hakim graded it sahih in 2/218, 219, and Dhahabi agreed with him.There is also a narration on this subject from Umm Salama [to come, no. 1261].
